ASHIS NANDY
Ashis Nandy talks to Almost Island editors Somak Ghoshal and Sharmistha Mohanty on his iconic work, The Intimate Enemy, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The conversation moves in and out of the book, as Nandy speaks about the time when it was written, then later moves to Tagore and Gandhi and the roots of dissent in our civilization.
In this conversation, Ashis Nandy has spoken sometimes in Bengali, his own language, and coincidentally also the language of the interviewers. This happened organically on his part and we decided to let it be.
